  13. We've tried to make using graphics, audio and video easy by providing each file in a format readable by AOL software.  If you want to look at our photos, play our audio clips, or watch our video, the best advice we can give you is to upgrade to the latest AOL software.

  15. To upgrade your AOL software all you have to do is use the keyword "upgrade" and follow the directions provided in the "About America Online version 2.5" file.

  17. Beyond that, there are many places on AOL which provide information about using multimedia files.  If you are new to using graphic, audio or video files you may find it helpful to visit the following forums.

  32. If you are using a Mac, you probably don't need any of the software in this library to listen to the sound files found on @times.

  34. All you need is a system 7 Mac and AOL version 2.5.1.  If you don't  have AOL version 2.5.1, go to keyword UPGRADE and download the new AOL software.

  36. Once you have version 2.5.1, download the sound files you want. You can open them within AOL.

  38. We have also made Brian's Sound Tools available if you would like to translate Macintosh sound files to Windows files.

  42. Windows Users:

  44. Sound files have been uploaded in a .WAV format. To listen to them you will need a .WAV player.  AOL software version 2.5 can play a .WAV file, as can Microsoft Windows Media Player, which you may find in the accessories directory of your program manager.

  46. If you have neither WAOL 2.5, nor Media Player, many .WAV player programs are available on AOL. We have made one, WaveShell 3.0, available in this library.

  48. WAVSHL3.0ZIP is a compressed file, and AOL software will not unzip it.  You need to download either PKZIP/PKUNZIP 2.04g or WINZIP.  We have made PKZIP/PKUNZIP available here. Read the installation instructions carefully before downloading either file.

  58. If you are using a Mac, you probably don't need any of the software in this library to view the video files found on @times.  All you have to do is download the .mov files and open them with your Quicktime movie player, which is included on all Macintosh computers when shipped.

Video files have been uploaded in a .AVI format. To view them you will need a .AVI player.  AOL software version 2.5 can play an .AVI file, as can Microsoft Windows Media Player, which you may find in the accessories directory of your program manager. If you have neither the AOL software nor Media Player, many .AVI players are available on AOL.
